Kaleido’s Scope

Just another piece of me.

Four Month Makeover

I will be heading/vising home in August. Either way, I’d like to be in better shape by the time I hit the Sunshine State. My diet and I have been hanging out on a plateau recently. Winter kept me locked away in my apartment and at school with tennis cancelled and no outside adventuring unless absolutely necessary. I wouldn’t say that I put on much weight, however, I don’t feel as slim as I was.

Below are my currently scheduled workouts:
*Tennis (Sun PM; 2H): I belong to a tennis circle that originated from my school. I play weekly, but I worry that once summer comes (and I move) I may not be able to play with them anymore.
*Jazzercize (Wed PM/Sat AM; 1H/class): I learned how out of shape I was by getting my ass handed to me by a uber-fit "Mama-san". Biggest pros of the class: 1) My friends from work go there, too & 2) most of the women are housewives or career women.
*Swimming (MTF PM; 1.5H): I used to go twice a week, but the snowy roads kept me from making the trek out to Fukube. I am going to start going again.
*Latin Dance Class (Thur PM; 1.5H/class): For 3 months only, I will be going to Club DNA for proper dance classes.

Current Fitness DVD Library:
*Basic Pilates: easily done in apartment. Have yoga mat.
*Crunch Cardio Salsa: Very fun, but depends on location. Lots of bouncing.
*Crunch Boot Camp Workout: Need weights. Requires lots of jumping… and push-ups.
*New York City Ballet Workout: The stretching activies are just about the ONLY thing I can do on this DVD. Everything else is jumping which is neighbor unfriendly.

So here’s my ordeal. I need to find DVDs that I can use in my apartment (and if I am staying a new, tougher bicycle). Any fitness recommendations or recipies people feel like passing my way are appreciated. Just keep in mind that for recipies, I only have a single burner and a micro/convection oven combo….only. Oh, and a blender. I live with the bare necessities here.

4年目ALTの採用応募エッセイテーマ

『JETの3年間の経験を、小学校専属ALTの職務にどのように生かしたいか?』

Above is the question for my 4th Year ALT Employment Application Essay. In English, it poses the following question:
"How could you apply your experiences over the last 3 years of JET specifically to the elementary school ALT position?"

(エッセイ: 日本語、A4版、40字X30字、1200字程度)

Additional requirements, In Japanese, A4-sized paper, 40 characters tall by 30 characters wide = around 1200 typed-written characters.

I am scared. So very scared. Less than two weeks to pull this together from concept to final draft (and submitted to the Board of Education)

Here’s the schedule for the application process:
17-Mar-06 - Complete application (with Japanese essay and 4cm x 3cm photo) due to the BOE.
21-Apr-06 - First Round Results Announced Those advancing to the Second Round will have interview appointments enclosed (early May).
26-May-06 - Final Results Announced

Would those frequenting Bactroid.net think this would make an interesting bilingual article? I’ll consider submitting it for review based on the comments I receive.
