Well, I still suck and have not managed to work on my website, Vuuduu Grrl.ORG, nor have I really made any progress on my Nano Novel, "Court’s in Session". I’ve been studying my brains out for the Japanese Language Proficiency Examination for the past three months, and Thursday, I came to the following conclusion:
I am not as smart as I thought I was.
There’s nothing more humbling, sobering, and pathetic than having a nervous breakdown, especially when you are on vacation. My test was 12/5, but I cannot pass it. I could not do any of the reading section without having to use a dictonary on every sentence, and an electronic Japanese-English & Chinese Character dictionary is not on the list of items permitted within the testing site.
I’ve had so many people cheering me on, but I’ve lost. Usually, I do not back down from things once I’ve begun them, but sometimes, you need to stuff your pride and know when to admit defeat. It hurt quite a bit, but I am fine with this decision. Maybe by next year I will be ready. This time, I greatly underestimated my opponent. I can save myself the $250 plus dollars I was going to spend on going to Kobe to take the test and treat myself to something.
